Spray the crockpot with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
Remove the neck and giblets from the whole chicken. Pat it dry with paper towels.
In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
Rub the seasoning mix all over the chicken, covering it evenly.
Place the chicken breast-side up in the crockpot. Cover with the lid.
Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4-5 hours, until the chicken is tender and fully cooked (internal temp: 165°F).
Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before slicing to keep it juicy.
